Something I really love about my kids is that when they have free time, they often choose to cook. This is probably because I have had them cooking with me since they could stand on a stool. I love this photo of my twins Harry and Elizabeth “baking”:
My son William, age 12, and I started watching The Great British Baking Show a few years ago, and thus inspired, William has become a pro baker. He was even paid to bake a birthday cake this summer! Yesterday he announced that he needed to make something that would “take all day.” So he made a Brooklyn Blackout Cake:
You have to make a cake, pudding and frosting and then do an elaborate assembly. William modifies the recipe to use milk chocolate because his brother, David, only likes milk chocolate — brotherly love.
